Operation SOS is a community service project of the PA Disciples of Justice Motorcycle Club. It is a fund raising drive to provide our PA troops overseas with some comforts from home that may not be readily available through military channels. The initial aim of Operation SOS is to support Guard and Reserve units from Pennsylvania through these efforts. Who are the PA Disciples of Justice? The PA Disciples of Justice is a motorcycle club made up of members of the law enforcement community who have come together to enjoy the camaraderie of riding the iron horse, fellowship, and community service. The PA Disciples of Justice is a chapter of the Disciples of Justice MC based in Fredericksburg VA. Why this project when there are so many others out there? There are numerous projects out there to support our troops in many ways. The PADOJMC felt that none of those quite hit the mark on what we wanted to do. Our goal is to make contact with PA units on the ground and let them tell us what they want/need. We essentially hope to "adopt" these units and provide support for as long as they are over there. Why only PA units? The reason we want to work for PA units is because we are all residents of PA, and many of our brothers/sisters in law enforcement are currently serving in the war on terror. We would love to adopt every unit over there and support everyone, but we are a small organization currently, and want to do the best we can for our own. As support for this project grows we will consider expanding our scope, but we want to do it right. Where does the money go? All proceeds go directly to purchasing and mailing the items requested by our soldiers on the ground. This is a volunteer project and therefore has no administrative costs. Is my contribution tax deductible? Probably. While we are not a 403b non-profit organization and therefore cannot issue tax deductible receipts, small contributions made to any charitable venture can usually be deducted on your taxes. Consult your tax advisor to see what is deductible. Deductible our not, this is a cause worth your support on any level.
